This was a slow first week, after my vacation. I am still waiting for some feedback on my dissertation. Regarding my job-hunt: I sent applications to several interesting companies and now I am looking forward to their feedback.

Happy 200!
This is my 200th article on the SCRM Blog.
One of my goals for this year was to build a good foundation on supply chain management for you, the readers, to be able to browse through a collection of great articles on supply chain risk management, and related topics.
Aviation and steering a company can be viewed as somehow alike. At least this is the starting point for the article by Srinivas (2009) reviewed today.
Aviation Analogy
But unlike companies a pilot has some advantages: a clear starting point, a given destination, he knows on which path to get there, he knows anytime if he is off course and he also knows how to get back on track.

I am happy to be back in Germany and I was able to avoid the announced strike of the German air traffic controllers. Which would have had implications not only for passenger services within Europe, but also could have disrupted shipments.

Yet another week. I finally handed in the first part of my dissertation thesis, of course just-in-time on the 31st. So right now I prepare the second part, with the results of my exploratory expert interviews on supply chain risk mitigation strategies and insights of a simulation study using agent based simulation.
